Y pero, por qué se llama Etsy en español si cuando visitas una tienda está en inglés? Con este comentario me tope, una vez más, mientras leía las entradas a uno de los sorteos que realiza uno de los grupo de los participo en Etsy.

 Para los que somos asiduos a Etsy, ya no es sopresa y no nos causa gracia la total ausencia de nuestro idioma. Ya hace algún tiempo que nos la venimos jugando, buscando por donde se les perdió  la letra 15 y los acentos escritos y hablados. Por donde se le complicó enterarse de que  más allá de la ubicación geográfica, somos parte de un grupo lingüísticos con un importante poder adquisitivo dentro del engranaje del mercado Etsy.

  Para los que vengan recién instalando su cuenta, tienda y demás enseres dentro de Etsy, les compartiré que a la manera de lo posible se subsiste con el poco inglés y las traducciones autómatas, gracias Google. A ésta altura se habrán dado cuenta que no es un mar si no un abismo de cosas y cosas, que las visitas cuestan un mundo generarlas y que cuentas con los pocos amigos y allegados dentro de Etsy para pasarla.

    Carentes de herramientas básicas y claves dentro de Etsy, pero nunca faltos de ingenio ni creatividad. No contamos con un blog ni un sitio oficial que unifique a los tantos usuarios: compradores y vendedores, ni a la comunidad lingüísticas interesada en la labor artesanal y en lo hecho a mano, el diseño y demás propuestas Etsy. Tampoco contamos con la apoyo técnico desde el sitio para navegar y obtener así respuestas a dudas frecuentes. Mencionaré además  que estas son herramientas con las que otros grupos como: el frances, el alemán y el británico ya cuentan.

    Será falta de organización, será falta de interés del grupo hispanohablante y/ o de Etsy. En algo estaremos de acuerdo, y es que es carencia lo que impera.

   Por ahí se viene celebrando el día E, y no es E de  Etsy, sino E de Español para informar sobre el impacto actual y a futuro de este idioma alrededor del mundo, tanto en la economía, como en las relaciones humanas y en las comunicaciones a nivel global.





   Ha de ser que este proyecto de blog, sitio y comunidad reconocida dentro de Etsy es una causa perdida para muchos tantos. Ha de ser que para los muchos pocos que aún lo creemos honestamente posible, se ha traspapelado en algún lugar entre las nuevas herramientas y propuestas para aumentar sus ingresos y los nuestros.

Cuando esto surja del baúl de planeamiento, y se concrete con gusto me morderé la lengua; hasta la fecha solamente queda gravitar hacia los grupos que conservan, se relacionan e intercambian en el idioma español.   Con la meta de hacerse del apoyo para crear entre nosotros mismos todo aquello que necesitemos.

Bueno será entonces iniciar en serio una campaña y un grupo de propuesta para un blog/sitio oficial con y para la letra 15 y todos los acentos. ¿Te unes?

Y en nuestro caso, no olvidaremos el 2010. No precisamente por habernos dejado cosas muy buenas.

Yes, this holiday season has brought to our shops and our customers a great deal of confusion and disappointment that has carried over to the New Year. It has tested our well developed resourcefulness in and out of Etsy. It has and is continuously challenging our hard-earned reputation as Etsy sellers.

We are writing on behalf of the entire EsEtsy team. We want to be reassured of Etsy’s support in this matter, for each individual Etsy seller in our team, who has come but too often for help, advise and answers, is doubting Etsy’s willingness to side with us sellers.

Our shops have come with a list of international customers, who are mainly located in the USA, and their claims/ reports of non delivery, their threats for negative feedback, their reports on paypal, their back and forth convos for updates about packages/ orders that have not yet arrived.

During the holiday rush Etsy did publish an article that mentioned the delay in packages delivery, asking for extra patience while waiting for the order, and advising to purchase insurance and to mail with a tracking number (this information in many cases has not been updated properly during this season). This was a topic and a road all too familiar for shops housed abroad (out of the USA), which mailed out orders from purchases as early as November 2010.

These unforeseen delays, with tighten security due to terrorist threats and postal services regulations which tempt to vary from border to border, added to the usual expected time of delivery on regular packages.

For customers already in the peak of the holiday shopping anxiety, this article did not make sense (especially the Etsy newcomers and first timers). For many buyers the delay is just an unacceptable factor, not taking into consideration that the seller has no control over the package while in transit, that the delay is an Etsy wide catastrophe, that is not a particular seller’s wrong doing-not in this case-!

We are left with two certainties from all this: that Etsy needs to pronounce itself standing by each seller -reviewing each case, because each case is one of a kind- and lacking this so far is adding up to our disadvantage. And that this will render us an infamous negative feedback, too many to keep running an up to now successful Etsy shop.

We feel our shops are in danger, we feel the need from Etsy to back us up in a consistent way in order to be able to confront this unfortunate situation successfully and keep doing our business that we love.
